You Can utilize the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Data
migration tool (DMT) to migrate Your information from AX 2009 to Microsoft
Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. Using the DMT is the only supported
upgrade path from AX 2009 into Finance and Operations. The DMT helps you locate
and fill gaps between the table schemas of AX 2009 and Finance and Operations,
in addition to helping you move your data.
Archictecture
The
following example describes the architecture of the DMT, and how data in the
source system (AX 2009) is processed and moved into the target system (Finance
and Operations).
Data migration process
The following
illustration shows the overall process of collecting And preparing the data in
your AX 2009 instance and then importing this information into your Finance and
Operations environment.
Before you can use the DMT to export data from the source
environment (AX 2009), you must complete the following pre-processing tasks:
· Mapping the table
fields between the source and target environments
· Implementing traffic
to this source data
· Establishing default
values to the origin data
· Applying query
filters
Because There can be
numerous legal issues in the source program, you must select the legal entities
that contain the data to migrate. For the selected legal entities, you can
review the source tables and their row counts. You can also view any virtual
companies. Eventually, they can analyze virtual companies that legal entities
are attached to the related tables.
Successful Migration of
exported data requires that a resource table be redirected to an equivalent
target data thing. You prepare the mapping using a Microsoft Excel mapping file
which allows for automatic mapping of the origin and target areas of each
table. The mapping document also has the data from the Finance and Operations
schema of the information entities and the default data that is required in
some tables.
Before You can migrate
information from AX 2009 into Finance and Operations, you must complete these
tasks to satisfy the migration requirements:
· Select target
measurements that correspond to the source dimensions that are populated based
on the chosen legal entities.
· Review the stock
dimensions which are included together with the chosen legal entities.
· Select the chart of
accounts for each legal entity, or merge several legal entities to one chart of
accounts.
· Complete the basic
ledger installation.
· Employ data
conversions To the source data, based on the extended data type (EDT) of this
area.
