Dynamics 365 applications resource planning can improve your field service

Dynamics 365 applications resource planning can improve your field service
If you're looking to improve your field service experience, the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Resource Planning Optimization add-on is the tool for your business. The RSO (Resource Scheduling Optimization) add-on for Dynamics 365 for Field Service is an excellent tool to increase the efficiency of your on-site service technicians, which can lead to greater customer satisfaction thanks to optimized planning and transfer.
There are two ways to schedule a work order in Dynamics 365 for Field Service:
Manually by clicking and dragging a work order on the desired resource and the desired time window on the planning board or you can use the planning wizard to filter resources by skills, roles, and other options
By optimizing resource planning for the field, work orders can be configured to be scheduled automatically to minimize travel time while maximizing work time. This can not only increase efficiency but also reduce costs by planning the most efficient routes, saving fuel and vehicle maintenance costs. By combining the predefined planning functions of Dynamics 365 for customer engagements with the automation of RSO, resources can be planned based on skills, the time required and other important criteria.

Configure Optimization of Dynamics 365 Resource Planning
The add-on to optimize resource planning for the D365 on-site service is highly configurable. Administrators can define optimization objectives and their priority. For example, if you want to maximize total work time and minimize total travel time, you can set both as optimization goals. In optimization, you then set a higher priority than the other.
Scope of optimization
You can define the expectations and zone functions - which work orders should be optimized and which should be ignored. You can also specify the speed or intensity of the optimization. A quick calendar optimization is a good option if necessary. However, we recommend more intensive optimization, which takes longer to execute.
Execute RSO
When you talk about running the optimization, you can also plan when the optimization will run. If a new work order is added at the last minute, you can execute at any time of the day with the remaining work orders that have not yet started.
Automated planning
Automated scheduling can be particularly powerful when paired with IoT devices that can monitor remote devices. If an IoT device is configured to schedule maintenance or failures, you can automatically plan a technician to maintain the devices before an adverse event occurs. Imagine that you can solve a problem before it even happens! This proactive service can significantly increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Install optimization of resource planning
To add RSO to your environment, you must first purchase licenses based on the number of reservable resources you want to optimize. A bookable resource is any person, vehicle or anything else that needs to be planned. After purchasing RSO add-on licenses, the resource planning optimization application must be installed through the Microsoft Dynamics 365 business applications. Once the RSO application is installed, the configuration can begin.
